le.gl.Einheits-Pkw (Kfz.2)

WWII German Radio Car
Scale: 1/35

After 1933 Germany began openly building a modern army. A vital part of the mechanization of the Wermacht was the development of special all-road personnel vehicles. Three types were developed; light, medium and heavy. All had all-wheel drive, independent suspension and a simple open chassis.
The Light Uniform all-road personnel vehicle “Leichten Gelände Einheits Personen Kraftwagen” was manufactured by Stoewer, and from 1936 by Hanomag and BMW. Between 1940 and 1943 Stoewer produced a simplified model, the “Type 40”, without rear wheel steering. All in all, about 13000 le.gl. Einheits-Pkw were produced.
Under operational conditions, the Light Uniform Personnel Vehicle proved to be too heavy, complicated and unreliable. The le.gl.Einheits-Pkw was produced in a number of variants, with different chassis, in particular the Kfz.2 Three seated radio car.
